Stop that car
GLV-V(Speak as GLV-5), a good place to see the Dutch helicopters fly at low level. This is a part of the Oirschotse Heide(Heath of Oirschot) where there is a low level flying area for the Royal Netherlands Air Force. On the 20th of January there was an exercise to arrest 2 victims in a driving car. For this exercise they used 1 Apache and 1 Chinook and a lot of man of the Luchtmobiele Brigade(Air Mobile Brigade) of the Royal Dutch Army. The Apache was there to make the car stop moving and the Chinook to place the man by the car so the guys in the car can be cached and arrested.

When we came there, there were already some other man who wanted to take pictures of the action, so we knew where to look for the action. There were also some military who explained to us what was coming and what we had to look for. It didn’t take long for the Chinook to show up, on the first rounds only the Chinook was flying. When he came from behind the trees he landed behind the car and the man came out so they can arrest the people in the car. The Chinook departed immediately after he left out the people. He came back when they had arrested the man in the car to pick everyone up. This happened three times before the Apache came in. When the Apache came in the real work began. The car was stopped very quickly by the Apache. After this the Chinook did the same work as before, but now whit the help of the Apache.

The helicopters did a great job, also for us. They were flying on the way that we could take great pictures of them. The flying activity’s where right in front of us and not far away so we could get them good on the picture. On a sudden moment we were standing on another place closer to the flight pad of the Chinook when the Chinook noticed our new place. He took a sharp turn and was flying direct to us. He was about 2 meters in the air and 3 meters from us when he flew right next to us. The 6th and last flight of them was different than the others. The Chinook and Apache where coming from another direction. The Apache came right over us on a low level flight to stop the car. The Chinook came in and now we could see the Chinook on another way. After this round everyone was going home, so we also go. It took about 2 hours from the first to the last flight, it were 2 incredible hours.
